Large Eternal Media Bar Update

- Removed another unnecessary variable. - Songs in music search now show the title, artist, and album, rather than the file name. - Fixed a potential crash on music search due to null pointer on cursor close. - Moved the execute for the image loader, now the line of code only has to exist once. - Reworked some code to add support for when I add in hiding apps. - Removed some notation that was in the ids, and shouldn't have been. - Music search can now search file names, and song titles. - Implemented some more strict Java GC use, which significantly improves ram consumption. - Moved some layouts that are constantly used to static variables, improves performance when calling them and avoids unnecessary instancing. - Changed the LayoutParams to be private static finals, so they each only need to be created once, rather than be instanced for every list item. - Apps can now be sorted by newest and oldest. - Fixed a glitch where the selected item could be one item past the la...

Eternal Media Bar Update - Widgets Soon!

- Added widgets - Added layout for editing widgets !NOT FULLY IMPLEMENTED YET! - Updated JDK version to 1.8. - Reworked a large degree of variable management to accommodate the use of ID's for improved readability and slightly less RAM use. - Removed some unnecessary checks. - Removed some unnecessary variables. - Improved some inefficient loops. - Properly fixed being able to long click search tools, you shouldn't be able to do that. - Fixed an XML error in the saving for hidden apps. - Removed the isPersistent bool from apps, it was very unnecessary. - Fixed some positioning errors with the theme. - Significantly reworked the settings menu code, it's not really better or worse, just different to accommodate all the changes. - Some more progress to having the ability to hide apps. - Reworked a massive amount of code to be more efficient, smaller, simpler, and more extensible. - Fixed a glitch where the settings menu let you reorganize, move, copy, remove an item in the category when long pressing something in the settings menu. - Fixed a glitch that could cause the OrganizeMode to be improperly set. - Fixed a glitch with the options menu where text will be partially cut off with longer names. - Moved a utility function to a utility class. - Removed some unnecessary imports. - Organization is now managed by an int and two booleans, rather than an int[3] to improve overall performance. - New build with all the new features. Eternal Media Bar Update

- Removed the offhand activity from the manifest to help boot time. - Rewrote the useage of AppDetail to simplify other parts of the launcher, removed the unnecessary bitmap. - Fixed permissions request, which is REALLY required for music. - Improved the image loader to be more extensible. - Changed appName to a CharSequence rather than a String to give more overall consistency. - Added new activity class for the media player. - Rewrote the AsyncImageView to be more extensible. - Removed some unnecessary icons. - Finished music search, you can now search through songs (by title only) via the search bar, and open any of the songs via your default music app. - The changes do add a small impact to overall RAM use, however this will be dealt with in the next update. No build just yet, after the next cleanup update there will be a build which should have significantly simpler code in some areas along with improved performance. As usual you can check out the source, contribute, a...

Eternal Media Bar Crash Fix

New build that fixes a crash with the search bar, I forgot to update the intent filter for the search bar, so it was causing a crash. As usual you can check out the source, contribute, and download the installer APK from my github at: https://github.com/EternalBlueFlame/EternalMediaBar

Small update to the Media bar, no new builds just yet.

Slowly working on the ability to add/remove custom categories, to start it off, I reworked how icons are dealt with, which should make the rest of it a lot easier. Not to mention it, more efficient. - Removed categoryGoogleIcon from the category class, it was never used anyway. - Removed all related processing of categoryGoogleIcon. Should give a small performance increase. - Renamed icon calls, this will make it easier to add more icons for new categories in the future. No builds just yet, this change really won't effect things for the end-user, only makes the app a little faster to save and load, and a slight bit lighter on the RAM. I'll put out a new build when the new feature is finished. But I'll warn you now, it's unlikely Lunar Tales will make more icons to match up with the material ones (especially ssince they aredoing the graphics for Trains in Motion), so new categories may get limited when it comes to actually nice looking icons.

Eternal Media Bar, new build and new features

Okay so I've neglected to make posts for the last couple commits, but here's the changelog: - New Build! - Moved a large number of variables to static for faster and easier access. - Options list is now it's own variable in the main class so we don't need to reload it as often when actually using the options menu. //needs more testing, may actually be a hinderance long run. - Image loader now has a forced load feature, so category icons get pre-loaded. (also broke it right away, and fixed it again. oops). - Reworked the initialization it was compensating for a failure that would never happen, and also sometimes causing corrupted data on app boot. - Removed the google play parse theory code, such a feature will be impossible without a 3rd party API. - Improved AsyncImageView, the progress animation was cool but significantly deteriorated performance in comparison to not using it, replaced it with a checkbox image for when moving/copying multiple apps. - Copy and...

Been a while, finally updated the launcher, and its big.

So, lately I have been working on a new project called Trains In Motion. A minecraft mod which adds trains in a simple but powerful API, I've posted about it before. This has taken a lot of time and thus why I haven't been posting, I'll make some actual posts about it when it's working. But all this work has taught me a lot about java, I have applied those lessons to my launcher, and the improvements are unbelievable, not only have a number of graphical errors been fixed but the performance improvements are more dramatic than my wildest dreams. Here's the changelog: - Improved the AsyncTask method for loading images, there is now a buffer for the image load. - Fixed class names to comply with proper java practices. - Created a class to hold the ImageViews while they are being processed. - Created and implemented class constructors for faster and simpler initialization. - Moved a large number of functions to static so they no longer need to be instanced. - ...

Eternal Media Bar Update. New Icons, and a new build!

- Added the new icons. - Search can now open the search in the app store. - Reworked some loops, should fix the errors with duplicating app shortcuts, and slightly improve performance. - Fixed some string connotation, should save and load a good bit faster now. - Fixed a glitch with options menu not closing when you change a switch, and improved the overall performance of the switch function. - New build with all the features and fixes. Eternal Media Bar Update

- Removed the web search class. - Search menu now provides a web search engine select at the top of the list without having to press enter. - The new web search is managed just by passing your search query to the relevant 3rd party search engine, none of it is managed by the launcher anymore (Blame major search providers for being greedy with their API). - Removed the Search text from the searchbar and shrunk it overall. - Finished the double tap to open feature. - Created a new function for toggling variables, this makes it easier to manage booleans. - Simplified the code for the go back and exit menu buttons. - Rebuilt the code for color select, it is now significantly easier to extend and manage. - Finished ability to change the color of the application select list. New builds to come soon, the changes today are very extensive and will need more testing.

Eternal Media Bar Update, New Build

- Improved the functionality for loading save data, it should be significantly more efficient now. - New Build - I realize there is a glitch with searching the web right now, this is due to google retiring their ajax API. I am still in the process of researching a solution to this issue. I intend to put some more work into the launcher soon, I want to start getting in some more features, especially the double tap, app background color selector, and auto app organizer, those are really high on my to-do list right now.
- Reorganized a large portion of code, it won't effect features or performance, just makes the source easier to read. - Reorganized a large potion of documentation. - Removed a large portion of redundant documentation. - Removed a large portion of unused code (should improve performance very slightly since it was still being processed but doing nothing). - Added a large portion of missing documentation. - Added a starting point for a function to only open an app if it's already selected, which will be perfect if you have a custom app background (not implemented yet), or just have a hard time clicking the right thing. However this feature will be off by default. - Minor optimizations for button-based controls. - Finally obsoleted the hli variable, it has not been needed since I moved to categories in the saveData, this should improve performance. - Added the save variable for changing the color of the list backgrounds, this will temporarily remove the ability to turn them off, t...

Eternal Media Bar - New Build

- Color change and Theme select now have their own menus. - Added spaces between go back and other menu options to make the menus easier to read. - Added a link to the github page in the options menu, consider it credits. - Changed the name of the "Internal" theme to "Lunar Default" - The options menu now instances the options menu layout so it won't have to make multiple findViewById calls. - Removed a pointless temp file that was accidentally included. - Added start of a custom ScrollView that will hopefully let me get scroll snapping working later on. - New build with all the changes thus far. Eternal Media Bar Update

- Added missing initialization for menu color select. - Fixed the icon size from the Lunar Tales theme. - Added an inverted version of the Lunar Tales theme. - Removed an unused, and misplaced image. - Fixed a depth glitch with the search menu that caused it to overlap the options menu while they are both open. No new builds tonight, but I'll be posting some soon. You can check out the source, contribute, and download the installer APK from my github at: https://github.com/EternalBlueFlame/EternalMediaBar

Eternal Media Bar - New build

- Some icons have come in thanks to  +Nicole aka Lunar Tales , so there are some replacements for my ugly placeholders. - Some feedback from users, agreed with by Lunar Tales, now the options menu is a flat color with a slight alpha, default is black with a small alpha. - Enabled the options menu item for defining the menu color. - Fixed the old values of colors, and now menu color will default to the new black even with old saves. - Changed the size of app icons, they are smaller now so you can have more on screen at once, but the zoom on the selected app is more significant. - Fixed the glitch where web search results did not scale to the proper sizes. - Updated README.md - New build with the extra features. Finished

I'm finally done transferring the posts I liked from my old blog to the new one here. Tomorrow I'll start work on new content. Primarily working on my Android Launcher. I'm going to rework some of the graphics. I'll also still post something I find funny from time to time, so don't worry, it wont get totally boring. I look forward to seeing some feedback on my work, I'd love to hear your ideas. Meanwhile you can check out what's already available on my github at https://github.com/EternalBlueFlame/EternalMediaBar
